An Unexpected Journey to The Well

For a long time, life was a blur of 'busy.' Between the demands of a high-speed career, moving out of state, back home to Grand Blanc, the new transition of parenting my young adult children while caring for my aging mother, I was running on empty.

I experienced many types of losses within my family and friendship circles in a very short period of time. All I knew was to "keep going", stay in crisis mode, as I found that to be comfortable but quickly learned it was not sustainable.  God graced me with an unwelcome experience where I felt the Holy Spirit guide me to make a change in my life.  Immediately making a decision, I realized I was not making Jesus my first priority.  I was ignoring our relationship.  Through a new commitment to prayer, Jesus provided me the space, the grace and love to show me how to heal and embrace peace.  By yielding to HIs will, Jesus asked me to find a support system outside of what I already trusted.  I prayed for Jesus to lead me to a Christian community where I could receive additional support and support others.

Within days of my asking for a support system, a kind forever friend, Catherine Szczerba and I ran into each other at Sams Club.  We have not seen each other for a number of years.  As the founder of The Well Christian Center, Catherine invited me to a Welcome Wednesday at The Well!   I know God placed Catherine in my path which directed me to The Well Christian Center.  Instantly, I found the women at The Well to be just like me.  We are women seeking a Christ centered community that provides respite from our worlds, physical and emotional wellness and inspiring friendships.  We all walk on our own paths, but there is something special when we can walk together remembering that we exemplify what God intended for all of us - community.

Proverbs: 27: 8- 10  -  Like a bird that is far from its nest is a man who is far from his home. Perfume and incense gladden the heart, but by grief the soul is torn asunder. Your own friend and your father's friend forsake not; but if ruin befalls you, enter not a kinsman's house. Better is a neighbor near at hand than a brother far away.

With the increasing number of tasks I recently faced, I was walking through life thinking the Lord would be proud of me for how well I was managing crises by myself. Jesus told me that I am worthy of His love no matter what I was going through and He doesn't want me to be alone.  He loves me and He also desires for me to be in a community. I welcome you to The Well Christian Center community.                I look forward to meeting you soon!  -Ann K

Jesus stood up and exclaimed, “Let anyone who thirsts come to me and drink.”
